How to write the letter J in cursive

Capital J starts with a loop under line 1, comes down past line 3, and curls to the left into a loop that sits above line 4. Small j is the same idea in small size: an up stroke, down through line 3, a loop below into line 4, then a dot placed above line 2.

What to watch on four-line copy

Both forms drop below line 3, and both keep the loop above line 4.
The dot on small j sits at the same height as the dot on i.
j is rare in Indian school word lists, so revise it alongside i rather than on its own.

The mistake to correct first

The loop of j turning to the right instead of the left, which sends the tail into whatever letter comes next and smudges the word.
