How to write the letter V in cursive

Capital V slants down from line 1 to line 3, then goes straight back up to line 1 and finishes with a small curve to the right. Small v sits in the middle space with a pointed bottom and a flat stroke at the top that carries the join into the next letter.

What to watch on four-line copy

The point of v sits exactly on line 3 and touches it.
Both slants are the same length and the same angle.
Capital V usually ends without a join, so the letter after it begins on its own.

The mistake to correct first

Rounding the base, which turns v into u. Write uv as a pair so the child can see the two shapes together on the same row.

Practice strip

Trace the shape three times slowly, then write the pair on your own four-line copy. Two minutes a day beats one long session on Sunday.
